Michelle Johnson Delery is the director of employee and communications services, and interim director of executive communications, at Entergy, an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy delivers electricity to 2.9 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas and has annual revenues of approximately $11 billion and more than 13,000 employees.
Delery advises senior executives and partners with senior communication leaders across multiple functions on employee and executive communications strategy, reputation, and crisis and issue management. She has direct oversight of a team that uses creative storytelling, video and multimedia presentation, social media and special events to create goodwill, increase message penetration, and drive better business outcomes in the company’s efforts to create sustainable value for its customers, employees, communities and owners.
Delery joined Entergy in 1999 as a communications specialist handling internal and external communications for Entergy New Orleans. After moving to the employee communications team at the company’s headquarters in 2001, she has held different roles with growing responsibility, including senior communications specialist, manager of internal communications and senior manager, employee communications.
During her career at Entergy, she has played a critical role in directing employee communications strategy during major crises and companywide change initiatives including storm events like hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the 2005 implementation of the company’s long-term health care strategy, various mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, cyber events, companywide reorganizations and the successful launch of new technology platforms including two companywide SharePoint integrations.
Prior to joining Entergy, she was a communications coordinator at Hibernia National Bank where she was a staff writer for that company’s employee publication, The Tower. She also previously served as an adjunct professor and curriculum committee member for the Media Arts program at Tulane University’s School of Continuing Studies.
She is a New Orleans native and holds a MBA from Tulane University, an M.A. in Mass Communications from Loyola University, and a B.A. in Journalism-Advertising from Louisiana State University.
She is a member Entergy’s Women’s Leadership Advisory Committee and serves on the Ragan Communications Leadership Council, Women United/United Way of Southeast Louisiana, and Positive Impact, Inc., a youth service organization. She also serves on the board of the Association of Women in Energy.
