With more than 18 years of electric operations experience with CenterPoint Energy, Chasta Martin recently joined the Regulatory Dept. as director of Rates. She is responsible for directing the development of revenue requirements, cost of service rates, and tariffs for the company’s electric and natural gas utilities, which serve more than five million customers as well as regulatory compliance. Additionally, she is responsible for maintaining constructive relationships with natural gas regulatory bodies in five states that include multi-jurisdictional areas and the transmission and distribution electric utility in Houston. In Electric Operations, as a service area director, she was responsible for electric service reliability, new construction and maintenance of the distribution system for most classes of customers and relationships with local officials within a specific geographic territory.
Active in the community, Chasta is currently involved with two non-profit organizations - Stepping into Strength and Keey for Kommunities. She has also served on numerous boards for various chambers of commerce as well as other community groups in the Houston area. She has presented at numerous events, including the Healthcare Hurricane Preparedness Summit, and “Surviving the Glass Ceiling” for the 52nd National Convention of Girls Scouts of America. She’s also a former member the Who’s Who in Black in Houston.
Chasta has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Houston, and received a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
